Energy 4 Orphans… New website!!

May 16th, 2008 by Administrator

I am excited to announce the launch of www.Energy4Orphans.org!
Energy 4 orphans, a 100% non-profit organization founded by my Canadian friend Michelle ( www.embraceyoga.ca ) in 2006, raises support for orphans and destitute children in Asia and elsewhere. We are an ever-expanding, energetic group of yoga teachers, artists, and other friendly people. We are currently trying to raise $7,000 to construct a girls’ campus at the Deenabandhu Trust Children’s Home in Chamrajanagar, Karnataka, South India.

Energy 4 Orphans
This unique and charitable organization has been improving the lives of orphaned, destitute, and economically disadvantaged children and young adults since 1992. It is currently the warm home to about 50 orphaned and destitute children. There are 35 boys and 14 girls.

Deenabandhu is seeking to make these numbers even by constructing a girl’s campus. Presently, the 14 girls at Deenabandhu live in a small (yet very well cared for), rented house. A new campus is essential in order for the organization to care for more girls. Without anywhere to go these children are often forced into bitter and abusive street life.

Michelle and I met in Mysore in late 2007. I have since joined E4O as the New York coordinator and web designer.
Please visit the site for more details!

If you are in New York, my dear friend and fellow yoga teacher Maggie Converse and I would like to invite you to a series of community classes at 8pm on Mondays in June. All proceeds will be donated to the Energy 4 Orphans current project fund.
For more details, please visit energy4orphans.org or email me.

In addition to this, I will be having a photography show of India images at Stain in Brooklyn for the entire month of July. Please join me for the opening on the evening of July 10th! I will send another invite closer to the date. 25% or more of any sales will be donated to the E4O current project fund.

So, just a few exciting announcements for today!
